Position Title: Shariah Compliance Officer

Department: Shariah Compliance
Location: Karachi

Key Responsibilities:

As a Shariah Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the compliance of Islamic banking operations at Soneri Bank. Your duties will include:

• Managing and maintaining Shariah compliance records to ensure that the bank’s operations align with Islamic principles.
• Reviewing process flows, control checklists, product manuals, legal documents, and SOPs to ensure they meet Shariah guidelines.
• Supporting the product and credit teams by assisting in transaction structuring and process development in accordance with Shariah compliance.
• Ensuring the Shariah compliance of monthly weightages, marketing material, and the schedule of charges related to Islamic banking products.
• Conducting ongoing Shariah compliance monitoring of Islamic banking operations.
• Developing training materials related to Islamic banking operations to educate internal stakeholders.
• Conducting website reviews to verify Shariah compliance of product information.
• Responding to Shariah compliance queries and conducting compliance reviews.
• Drafting Shariah compliance review (SCR) reports and following up on any required rectifications.
• Implementing enforcement actions as prescribed by the Shariah Board.

Qualification & Experience:

• Education:
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree in Islamic Banking/Finance or Islamic Jurisprudence will be preferred.
  • Candidates who are ACCA/CA part-qualified or have relevant certifications, diplomas, or specializations in Islamic Finance from recognized universities or institutes are encouraged to apply.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in Banking, Dar-ul-Ifta, or Shariah Advisory Firms.
