Position: General Manager – Procurement

Location: Utopia Head Office, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan

Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 09 AM to 06 PM

Job Overview:

As the General Manager – Procurement, you will play a crucial role in shaping Utopia’s procurement strategies and policies. This includes sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing finished products from reliable and cost-effective suppliers and vendors in China. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing the procurement team, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and building long-term relationships with suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies aligning with Utopia’s vision, mission, values, and goals.
Supplier Engagement: Source and engage with reputable suppliers and vendors in China, establishing long-term and mutually beneficial relationships.
Negotiation: Negotiate advantageous terms and conditions with suppliers, covering aspects such as price, quality, delivery, and payments.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with Utopia’s quality and safety standards, as well as local and international laws and regulations.
Team Management: Lead and guide the procurement team, providing training, feedback, and support.
Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor and evaluate suppliers and vendors’ performance.
International Travel: Travel to China 3 to 4 times a year for 2 to 3 weeks to visit suppliers, conduct market research, and attend trade shows.
Reporting: Prepare and present procurement reports and analysis, providing recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

Education: Master’s in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Experience: Overall 12 to 15 years of experience, including 8 years specifically sourcing and procuring from China.
Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP, and procurement software.
Language: Fluent in English and Mandarin.
Travel: Willing and able to travel to China frequently and for extended periods.
